I like how WoW isn't even on the list because it's too big.
What the hell is Dofus and why has is it so popular?
It's amazing how popular FF11 is when it's so bad.
And I don't mean to alarm anyone, but TR followed the exact same path as Vanguard. Only with 20k or so more people.
How did they get these results?

That's really jumbled, but it's kind of interesting to see how SWG somehow managed to become more popular after the NGE.
And yeah, wtf is Dofus?

It's uh... french. Apparently.
I'm downloading it now, because I'm an addict for free games. So we'll see how these Europeans can make MMO's

No, the SWG plot shows that it lost a helluva a lot of members when the NGE hit (which was NOV 2005). In NOV 05 it had 220k subs and right now it has just under 100k. The one big dip you see in 2005 was the CU. You'll notice the subs rose until the NGE hit (the next big dip). After awhile it just plateaus out.
The data and charts are explained the main site btw. Just click the link in the OP and poke around.

From the wiki- "Dofus is a MMORPG Game Flash massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Ankama Studio[2], a French computer game manufacturer."
Dofus a turn based combat MMO. It's uh... well... after readin the game's wiki and playing the game, it seems like it could be interesting, if you like Turn-Based Strategy games. Which I do, but it still seems, eh. Maybe once you get out of the starting area things get more fun...

Hmm, 13M per year in subscription revenue.
In my industry (electronic's hardware), That would support a staff of around 13 people, in order to keep Wall Street happy.
Probably figure around 20-25 folks for break even.
That doesn't account for paying back the initial investment either.
I've got a bad feeling about this....
It also makes me wonder if a significant portion of the actual dev work isn't done overseas (India or China). This would explain why it has not been canceled (lower cost) and why the dev work seems to be taking forever.

The devs' work is taking forever because their priorities are FUBAR. They're putzing around giving female avatars tight asses and huge tits. A worthy endeavor for certain but not exactly a pressing issue either.

What I think happened with patch 1.7 is that all the cool things that are coming in 1.8 took them longer than the time alloted they have to push out 1.7, so they have that promise to come out with a new patch every 3-5 weeks and they got stuck with not much to show this month.
Of course, for this theory to be true 1.8 will have to be awesome, and have more than just a damn boxing ring.

They gave'em all badonkadonk's? Yikes. I'd take a frog ass over a badonkadonk. Not that either really make my mouth water.
And yeah, 1.8 would have to be hella sweet...

Obviously they need to make sure the womens look hot so they can be used as eye-candy at teh boxing ring. All we need now are corrupt bookies and a lot more booze

Based on the actual size of the development team (< 30 full time I estimate), it's a very respectable number after a 6-month run. Most MMO projects in development (not including Warhammer Online) use the 500k subscribers mark as their first year goals and expectations.
As the market continues to get saturated with subscription based games, and the free games continue to improve, all of these numbers will probably drop to less than 100k (with the exception of WoW I am sure).
Of course, these are only observations of mine. I have worked on the development of a few MMO's and multiplayer games in my time. ;)

Actually, 75k is pretty terrible in relation to the other games. It's one of the smallest player bases of all MMOs and it's the smallest as far as AAA titles go.
Even NGE SWG has more than double the current playerbase. I also think that 75k is more than there are currently as that number was guesstimated for end of January.
