View Full Version : Why You Should Forget About That Fantasy Bullshit And Play CoX

When I used to play SWG I always dreamed of the game allowing me to recreate this fight scene:
9Glv8gYYAyQ

Well, in CoX I finally did. Basically everything you see in the fight clip above is possible in CoX. For a relatively succinct account I'll fill your ear up with this little diddy:

I was robbing a bank with a bunch of other villains (you didn't actually think I'd go hero-side, did you?) and part of the mission requires you and your team to defeat a hero boss and his sidekicks or whatever. The task force NPCs the hero brings with him are called Longbow.

At any rate, we only had so much time to make our escape and had just grabbed the cash. We thought we had eliminated all of the longbow but the mission didn't end. I equipped my jetpack and rocketed skywards to find two entire squads of Longbow jump troopers patrolling the sky.

Two other guys came up to help after I put the word out and I started the engagement. I was zip-zap-zooping every which way laying into these guys when my two teammates were knocked out of the sky and basically fell to their deaths (your jetpack can get shot off or a certain state effect might paralyze you and all you can do is hope you come out of it before you splat). I must have been twenty or thirty stories up when all of my assault rifle attacks were recharging so I closed in to finish this final Longbow mano y mano.

We both executed an attack at the exact same time and knocked our jetpacks off. As we hurled towards the pavement one of my assault rifle attacks came up and I shot the guy. At the last minute I blasted my jump pack power (jump pack is different than a jetpack, jetpack is equipment while jump pack is an ability) and oh so very narrowly avoided being a big red greasy stain on the sidewalk.

Completed the mission with a whole two seconds left to spare.

That's why you need to play this game. Not only that but it has rockin' PvE content (and a shit ton of it to boot, once you hit max level you're just hitting the real content and have the majority of it ahead of you) and the PvP is a blast too. Even the social areas can be really fun.

Yeah, y'all should be playing this game. And if you're still not convinced the whole CoX Kit (CoH + CoV + Bonus Shit) is only twenty bucks. Seriously, I've been playing this game with Astrid for almost an entire week now and it's been a blast.

My class is fun as hell and you get to pick all of your skills and then insert whatever enhancements (as long as they're applicable to the skill) you want to customize them just how you'd like. Even if someone has the exact same skill loadout as you do the enhancements can create two completely different play styles.

Play CoX! And if you do decide to roll in Paragon City choose the "Virtue" server. I'm villain side.

Okay, so I lied; that was hardly succinct.

Does that 20 bucks include 1 month free play?

I don't know how much time I have, but when I get my first real paycheck, I might pick the game up.

I can hook everyone up with 10-day free trial codes. PM me a real name and working email address and I'll fire one at you. If you use the code and then go on to become a subscriber, I get a free month. =D

Speakling of which, did you actually use the one I sent to you? I have heard nothing from NCSoft about a credit for yours.

Yes, I did use it but two or three days later I just straight up bought the game. So... I have no idea if that counts towards a free or month or not.

Maybe they're just taking their time about it then. . . =\

Ahh poo, trial accounts can't send tells... Only local, team, and help channels are allowed. Makes it hard to do anything with you guys...

I'm just @Kavadas. Well, when I get online tonight I'll hop on Vent and you can catch me on there.

Hey, just to let Felsic and Astrid know...

As soon as I take TK-4787 to 50 I'm going to be creating my VEAT (Villain Epic Archetype) so I'll be starting all over again. I don't think it should take me longer than a week to hit fifty. Two at the most.

Anyways, I should be a lot more available for grouping with ya at that point.

Deep envy fills me. I got derailed at lvl 20 by the fact that I HATE MASTERMIND, so I had to start again. I so want a Widow, though, so I'll force my way to 50. . .

C'mon you weirdos, play with my CoX! Ahahaha, seriously though, we have myself, Nova, Sal, Cooke, Feslci, and (doubtful at this point) Horizonz. That's six people right there. Well, really more like five

But still, if ya want a trial let me know and I, or one of the current subscribers, will shoot one out to ya. I think I may even use CoX as a harvesting, I mean, "recruiting" ground for our Earthrise playerbase.

So jump in game! Seriously, what the hell else are you doing anyways? Plus Sal and I spotted the Springwood Slasher (a.k.a. Freddy Kruger) at the D last night.

We have about 17 people if you count all my alts. I would probably be a lot better off just sticking with one character I liked...

Anyone interested in some mad XP? The Halloween trick-or-treating is a great way for 8 motivated people to grind the living hell out of a small area. I ran my tanker from level 42 to level 43 in about 20 minutes last night, for example.

Yeah, now that I have my VEAT you (Nova, the toon), myself, and Sal are all around the same level. We can lackey Cooke if we see him and get some sweet XP. Sal and I were trick or treating for a little bit last night in Cap after we took down Deathsurge.
