Hello everyone!

To start off the week, we have a question about defense and structures!

Burek asks: What kind of defensive structures will we see in Earthrise, like turrents etc. and will they be manned or controlled by AI, and if it's the latter, what would be the extent of the AI.

Defense is important. Even the most reckless of Continomian soldiers know that simple fact. And when it comes to defense, outside of the contested territories few come close to the versatility of the characters who specialize in nanite control.

In Earthrise, defensive structures will be one of the most important building types that you can equip your contested territory with, allowing you to keep the enemy away and give you an advantage in combat. Players will be able to build different types of defensive turrets, with upgrades providing either additional raw destructive power or different attack qualities that plays with the opponent's weaknesses. Enhancing the defensive walls of your contested territory has a lot to do with survivability, too - unless you invest in a good protection, your enemy will simply rush through your defenses and will give you little time to plan your defensive tactics. Outside of the contested territories, it is up to the players to provide protection.

Feel free to discuss below. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next developer's chat!

Guess that'll be part of the crafting xp tree. Sounds like we'll need to be well diversified.

The diversity is one of the things I like most about ER. In order to survive we will need to be diversified, the player base as a whole will need to be as well. If it works as well as they intend, it will be a stark opposition to the hundreds of games out there where everyone has the same abilities.

This game is going to require players of all styles. We will need the most hardcore PvP players to the biggest harvesters to the best nitpicky crafters.

Crafting is going to be a very diversified skill sets from the start. The best thing to do is have those players who decide to go hardcore crafting decide amoungst themselves what they are best at and how they can best support the guild. Not only will we need kick ass item makers but "architects" as well.

Overall the guilds in the game are going to have to be extremely diversified and not specialize in anything in particular. We will have to excel at everything.
