The next newsletter has arrived, here are a couple exerpts.
Happy New Year!

Close to one year ago, we announced the development of Earthrise introducing players to Enterra Island along with the potential perils and remarkable glory that await future inhabitants. With Earthrise's unique combination of features including sandbox game play with a skill based system, advanced crafting mechanics and territory conquest, the MMO community at large embraced our vision with great expectations and enthusiastic reception. Since then, our industrious team has continued to develop a game that exceeds initial expectations and separates Earthrise from the rest.

2008 was a period of significant changes in our internal tools and game client, but more important, this was when Earthrise began to take the definitive form of the MMO many of us had dreamed of since the beginning. Looking back, we are amazed at how much we have grown as a team; we've attended a number of conferences that allowed us to share our dream with others, we acquired new skills and added new employees to our Masthead Studios family.

Perhaps one of our biggest accomplishments this year has been the acquisition of such a dedicated and supportive community. We'd like to thank all of you for your intelligent posts, words of encouragement and most of all, your patience with this development process.

We have worked our way through early development stages and are now on the cusp of our closed beta testing. We look forward to bringing Earthrise to you in 2009 so that everyone may share in the dream that we have held for so long. We encourage you to stay tuned to our site for upcoming news and announcements, and to keep bringing your ideas, stunning artwork, and well-formulated contributions for discussion and debate.

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2009!

A Message from Moll

At the end of last year, we decided to take a look over at 2008 and bring you some of the highlights of our exciting year. Has it been a year already? It's hard to believe how time flies when you're having fun on the forums!

In May, we started with our very first newsletter, even though Earthrise had been announced just a few short months before. Last spring brought about many things, including the quick addition of our DevTracker, the Question of the Week forum, and my personal favorite, the search button. Do you remember our first question of the week back in February? It was all about lore, and how the early ideas of Earthrise first came together. Question of the Week started not long after the forums were launched, so we've got quite an extensive backlog of things to read on a wide range of topics. The original question thread got so large in June we released Part II, and summarized a lot of the common questions. It is almost better than search. Well, not really.

During the summer, the community exploded with activity as new fansites were launched all across the globe. Earthrise is well on its way to becoming a global sensation, so keep up the good work everyone!

Last spring and summer also saw our Developer Chat series being hosted by Stratics. Thank you Stratics for being such a kind host to us! Over the fall and winter we accepted an invite from MMORPG.com to have our Developer chats there, and after the overwhelming success of our first outing we are looking forward to more chats there soon. Be sure to stay tuned to the announcements section of the forum for dates and details.

In late summer, we focused a bit on some fan fiction as our creative community writers spent the lazy days of summer giving us all well written tales to absorb and enjoy. Our artists and writers continue to delight us with all sorts of talented treats, so if you haven't stopped into Club Earthrise by now you really ought to at some point.

Whether you are an old veteran to the forums, or just now joining us, we are so happy to have you here. We have seen our community grow to all corners of the globe and make room for the arrival of many weary players from different MMOs. We hope that you will continue to find Earthrise an awesome and welcoming place to stay during your MMO journeys.

In the meantime, don't be shy, come join us on the forums and say hello!
