I can only hope that the devs keep the title of this post in mind when they put out these QotWs. This one was so particularly lame that it lead to a thread about how to help MH get info out to people (http://forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php?topic=3516.0).
Original QotW link (http://forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php?topic=3504.0).
Greetings everyone!
Today's QOTW is short and sweet, and about looting! We've talked about looting before, but read carefully, you may find something new...
This topic was taken from this post, courtesy of community member babylon, who wants to know:
"What happens to the corpses of people dying to mob attacks? Does the corpse become free for all to loot after a time (and so could you also just run back to your corpse and grab the loots yourself without having to pay that extra insurance for uninsured stuff) or are corpse looting rights restricted solely to a human player assuming one killed you (and so mob kills mean any items unclaimed by dead player through their insurance just disappear from game).
also, how does game determine who has rights on the loot...is it who did most damage or who hit first?"
While we are still testing final looting mechanics and some of design is open for tweaking, we aim to create a uniform and easy to learn looting system that will provide players with the sense of challenge but also of reward when they defeat their opponents. Looting for PvE and PvP will be somewhat similar as a result, and if you recall some of our previous discussions and commentary on insurance, you'll be pleased to know players will have a second chance at preserving their property via automatic item recovery after death. However comforting this may be, keep in mind this item recovery will be within a very limited time period and at a high price. We are striving to ensure that the mechanics that irritate us and our players the most like "corpse runs" can be minimized and actually avoided. For those of you who actually want to go that route, though, you can run back to your corpse and grab the loot yourself. If you really want to make that corpse run, we certainly aren't going to stop you, but in terms of saving money, you might find you don't have loot to grab once you get back, depending on the circumstances involved. Dying is a risk!
As currently designed, players can look forward to getting a piece of the loot pie, which will be determined based on their contribution in combat and on the party looting options (if they are in a party). We look forward to sharing full details regarding our current implementation regarding loot rights, but we've got a few tiny details we want to work out and finish testing first. It should be worth the wait, and we look forward to your input on that.
That's all we've got for this week, stay tuned next week as we're working on another lore preview (which may or may not happen, that's just the plan).
