Lore: Noir
The Resistance Pt. 2
Having found safety in the mountains of Enterra, the opposition began to organize disruptive attacks on Continoma's resource supply lines and warehouses. The initial attacks succeeded due to the surprise factor and Continoma's practical nature, but the SVS security squads soon initiated deployment of new security monitoring outposts throughout the island and mutant exterminator squads were deployed to hunt down the guerilla, succeeding in pushing them further into hiding.
The oppositions' numbers diminished with each attack. Most of the rebels were either never recloned or forced to renounce their ideals and made the subject of Continoma's propaganda exposing rebels who returned as productive members of society. This struck a wound in the rebellion's ideals as many rebels believed in the message and returned to Sal Vitas. A strong core remained true to their ideals, despite the now weak and desperate terrorist attacks, but it was clear that as long as Continoma had control over the cloning process the separatists would not be able to achieve control.
However, the time had come for the balance of power to change. While Continoma appeared strong and unshakable on the outside, it was not aware of the forces within that plotted against it. The rebellious organizations had secretly approached key scientists within the corporate government, many of whom were still bitter from the change in research direction away from the nanite virus, and recruited them to their cause. They were soon joined by the Phoenix scouts, an organization within Continoma angered after being stripped of privileges as Continoma became more power hungry and arrogant.
In secrecy, the three sides sowed the seed of betrayal within the heart of Continoma. The rebels were already working on an underground base of operations far from the reach of the government, using any key technologies they could steal. Their tireless efforts brought them close to completion, but they still lacked the most important component – the cloning facilities – that would ensure their independence. But when freedom looked to be just out of their grasp, salvation appeared in a captivating form proffering a plan to bring independence within their reach.
